"I have consistently stated that I'll support law to protect marriage between a man and a woman," President Bush said.

I fail to understand in what way allowing gays to marry undermines marriage between men and women. How is a law banning same-gender weddings "protecting" other weddings? It protects nothing, it only denies something.
There is no slippery slope here. There is no way that, as Dr. Dobson proclaims on "Face the Nation," gay marriages will inevitably lead to group marriages (some polyamory folks wouldn't object to that anyway). How does allowing two people to wed affect the ability of any other two people to wed? Maybe I'm just incapable of seeing the mystical bugaboos that are all around our President and his supporters.
