Well, this sucks. Not that Borders is closing; anyone who watched their Amazon outsourcing and other missteps is unsurprised by that. What sucks is that they are having a massive liquidation sale, and the closest store is 3 hours away. Stupid middle-of-nowhere town…

TSA – Now what?

The TSA is warning the United States that there may be a plot to surgically implant a bomb inside a person, to avoid scanners currently in use. I shudder to think what this might imply for “enhanced screening” in the future.
Kindle Email
Hey, Kindle users, I have a question for you. The Kindle has this cool feature where you can email things to it (either paid over 3G or free over WiFi). Do you use that feature much, if at all?
This is part of my continuing curiosity about all things ebook, and it seems that Amazon is the only one with an email address the user can shoot things to. With all the reviews for the new touch Nook this week, it just made me wonder if this is a feature that few people would even miss, or if it’s something really important.

Nation of Laws

A former President and Vice President have publicly confessed to war crimes – the ordering of and condoning of torture, among other things. The current President says we must look forward, not backward.
A former Presidential candidate had an affair and misused campaign contributions. The current administration is going to nail his ass to the wall for that!

I loved a man and his son playing the same character (especially because I love both of those actors). I love every scene with Alex Kingston in tight jeans. I love the mysterious new amnesia-inducing monsters from an Edvard Munch painting.
But, that cliffhanger! One week will crawl by, damn you Steven Moffat!

President Obama this week:
We cannot stand idly by when a tyrant tells his people that there will be no mercy, and his forces step up their assaults on cities like Benghazi and Mizrata, where innocent men and women face brutality and death at the hands of their own government.
Unless, of course, those people live in Sudan, Darfur, Somalia, Congo…

OK, this post has the offending term in its URL, yet the post itself has nothing to do with anything remotely controversial. Wanna bet the USAF blocks it?
Update: Yep. I can get to the previous post from on-base, but not this one. There is no way anyone is able to view all the logs from all the sites which have mirrored the material, but this is kind of bizarre anyway.

Why would a duck have a nest twenty feet off the ground? Who knows, but it’s a good thing Joel Armstrong is around to catch the ducklings as they plummet to earth.

I can’t relate to this comic at all. Nope, not me.

Say you’re a Latino living in Arizona, who has a “contact” with the police. They think you may be an illegal alien, and ask for your identification. Turns out, there’s no law requiring any citizen to actually possess or carry identification with them. What’s the next step for the police?
Oh, and by the way, police have always been allowed to check the immigration status of suspects, this just allows them to check the status of other people who have “contact” with the police.
