More Entropy
See this entry for
my first rant about things failing recently.
It continues. My Skagen watch died a
few months ago. It was working one day, and not working the next. Figured,
"Eh, the battery died." So I go to the only place in town that seems to
sell watch batteries, Walmart. There, the watch is opened, the battery
replaced, and watch returned to one piece. It still doesn't work. It's
about 7 years old, but it's an expensive watch and should work for a lot
longer than 7 years.
No big deal, I replaced the battery on my Fossil Brain watch at the same time. It
ran fine until this morning, when it started flashing "low battery" at me.
The battery is less than three months old. I guess this means the Fossil is
dead too. Great.
And the router, which originally inspired the Entropy post, is still
randomly rebooting. I've documented it recycling even when neither
computer was turned on, while we were at work or asleep. DLink's email
response was the usual Level I support bull - maybe it's your fault, dear
customer, but if not maybe we can RMA it. Great. Another RMA.
Maybe this time they'll get the address right. Last RMA wandered around
town for an extra day since they addressed it in some dyslexic fashion.
FMITGA.
