Russia complains about Olympic judging?

The lower house of Russia's parliament passed a resolution 417-0 calling on Russian athletes to boycott the closing ceremony unless the IOC reruns the cross-country race, bars North American referees from the hockey game and apologizes to the Russian Olympic team.

I don't think we've seen such a contentious Olympics since the whole boycott nonsense in the Cold War.

I always thought the Olympics were a simple thing - may the best man/woman/team win. Not so this year. It's more like, may the most litigious team win.

did they mention anything about blood doping and having their judges pressuring others and throwing votes??

bahahaha I saw a press conference with the head of their olympic team saying they might hold their own "fair" games instead of participating in the olympics... Apparently they're considering Free Style Hypocrisy as an event ;-)

On the plus side, they did give Canada equal billing with your neighbor to the south - "North American judges" and all that.

Although that woman's hemoglobin levels were above the legal limit, that doesn't mean she did anything wrong. She could have accidentally um, injected herself with blood, or something. Totally innocent, fell on a needle attached to an IV bag... :-)

The Russians are a bunch of whiney has-beens, pissed of because since the end of the Soviet Union they can't bully their athletes into dominating the sports world any more, so they have to resort to cheating, drugging, bribing judges and complaining in order to win. Fuck em, let them drop out of the Olympics.

The real losers are the athletes. The IOC should declare this billion dollar fiasco DOA, and then go back to the basics: kids and sports. Ban professionals and quarantine the judges.
