I've decided to not deign to answer those who purposely mangle their mother tongue online. No longer will I respond to anyone who asks me, "wat dew u lyke 2 yews 4 dat?" or any other inane crap. Typos are one thing, unfamiliarity with a language is another; purposely misspelling things just to be "kewl" is stupid, moronic, idiotic, and several other synonyms.

So, all you "leet" folks out there - piss off. I'm not going to answer your questions, except perhaps to tell you that you are not speaking any language I recognize. Phbt!

I find that the English language REALLY degrades in emails....especially work emails! I don't understand why people think that writing an email gives them the excuse to misspell words, leave out punctuation etc.

Anyway, I salute your worthy efforts of helping people with their language usage! ;)

Unless you espouse the argument of Ms. Ball regarding African American Vernacular English. Based on her assertion the following sentence contains not one word of slang: "He be doggin' his homies." The sentence contains, if I recall correctly, the "hesitant be" which is not conjugated. In fact, it never has to be conjugated to be grammatically correct. Also, according to Ball, "dog" may be used as a verb simply because that's accurate given the vernacular.

Of course, my question remains, if she argues that this is correct language use for an African American inner-city youth, what about all of those Anglo American youngsters following suit. Trendy? Vernacular? Or?

What says you?
I know where I stand....

The current generation contains a high proportion of fools. They constantly seek to distinquish themselves but lack any merit. Their music sucks. The best they can do with fashion is copying the styles of ghetto riff raff. They lack any knowledge of history, politics or economics. Their idea of art is Japanese cartoons. They don't have an idea in their empty little heads that wasn't put their by some puerile product of an "Education" department.

So the deliberate misuse of language is the best they can do.
