The importance of site design testing

I'm sure that her LJ design looks great on bloojanuary's machine, but darned if I know how.


I normally browse in Opera, so I thought it might have been something peculiar to that browser. Although Opera adheres very closely to the HTML 4.0 standards, most design programs don't.
So, I checked out IE 6 and looked at the site...

Still impossible to read... Well, how about Netscape 6.2?

Yep, still crappy.

So, girl, what in the world are your computer settings that make that page legible? Must be a Mac thing... Good thing you're on my friends list, so I never actually go to your LJ directly. :-)

Sorry, I'm out of codes. The business side of LJ claimed they'd be obsoleting them "real soon now" so I gave them away.

I'm not sure why people have such a strong reaction to this userpic. It's just my eye. I didn't re-touch it or edit it in any way - that's what my eye looks like.

enygma and c_feightner both think it's freaky to see that on their friends pages too. Whatever. :-)

Invite Codes

There was talk that the "invite code" system would get removed soon, as it was no longer necessary to limit the growth of the subscriber base. Don't know when that will happen, but watch the LJ News page for details. I have no special information. :-)

What resolution do you have your screen at? I have mine at 1152x864, and the fonts don't become clear until I zoom to 150%.

Better Computers

You can check your resolution by right-clicking the desktop, selecting Properties and looking at that last tab that says "Settings" - tada!

Learn how to tweak your computer and it will pay off in faster, smoother operation. And, maybe you can get our sister to change her resolution to something higher than "OH ick how ugly" mode. :-)

I probably have a better computer than you, which is why I've got my resolution set fairly high. If you were running at a lower res, the fonts would be larger and perhaps easier to read than on my machine. I think BlooJanuary has her font code wrong, because the code says some of the fonts should be Comic Sans, and it doesn't display that way. Silly Mac users.

OH OK
I was in a hurry and being silly when I said that.
It's on low res right now 800 by 600 pixels.
I could have it on high, but then half the shit on the internet is unreadable or whatever, which would be 1024 by 768.
I'll look at it in that setting and see what I see.
