Yep. If he leaves his wife, and there's another woman, it's just a coincidence. The other woman acts as an out, an excuse, a tantalizing glimpse of a life less ordinary. Once the reality of the other person hits, though - he will not be satisfied.

It's so easy to be romantic and lovey-dovey when you're stealing a few moments behind a dumpster or slipping away for a couple hours when you think nobody will notice. The actual living with another person is something completely different.

You're right, the actual living together IS something else entirely. That first rush of passion can quickly be cooled by the discovery that the object of your desire has habits you less than desire. Suddenly, what you have at home, if that's the case, doesn't look so undesirable.
My sister recently kicked her boyfriend out, in spite of the fact that they've discussed getting married, because living together "just isn't working out". When Rick and I moved in together, we knew within the first few weeks this was forever. Word of advice for the world: if you can't live with them, the romance is kinda pointless. And good grief Gare, who smooches behind dumpsters??? That's some serious weird kink!

Well, I was going to say something about sneaking into a bathroom or a dark corner somewhere, but the dumpster seems to combine the two. :-)
