I've long given up on ever finding MTV playing music (wonder what the M stands for), but at least VH1 would play a good 1 or 2 hours of videos during their 24 hour day. Not any longer. They've replaced many of their usual music blocks with reruns of the Adam West version of Batman, and the Brady Bunch, and other crap TV from the late 60s and early 70s. This stuff was dreck in 1975, it's dreck now. And, what is the relationship between these shows and a channel ostensibly devoted to playing Video Hits? I realize that their "Rerun Show" was a hit, but that doesn't mean they need to replace the music with real reruns. Who is in charge of the logic behind cable programming?

Up next, the Home and Garden channel will play Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Animal Planet will play NASCAR races. Why let the viewers expect to find something on your station at all related to the name of the channel, anyway?

I can't say as to why they're showing Batman, Charlie's Angels, and the Jeffersons at ALL, but at least The Monkees DOES have a music tie-in. I don't get what's happened to music video channels either. MTV is loaded up with shows that have NOTHING to do with music whatsoever, then they play about an hours of videos LATE at night. VH1 at least was thinking clearly, originally, when it added shows to its lineup...all the shows were at least ABOUT the music. Behind the Music, Driven, Where Are They Now, are at least about the musicians who make the music we listen to. But Undressed, Road Rules and Dimissed (mtv) have NOTHING to do with music at ALL. Now, I gotta confess, I LOVE Cribs, which is actually at least about music in some indirect way, and of course, I'm a huge Osbournes fan, and he IS a musician. But the rest of MTV blows, big time.

Now, my mom got a dish recently, and among her many channels, she has two of the most amazing things: video channels that actually SHOW videos!!! She has MTV2, and something called MM: Much Music. And that channel lives up to its name! It's amazing, and it's almost enough of a reason for me to get a dish myself. :) It's miraculous!
