Terror Alert Based on 2000 Intel

Old information led to the terror alerts in the financial districts of DC and NY yesterday. Or maybe not so old, but mostly old. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Democrats have raised questions over the timing of the alert, saying it could be politically motivated ahead of the election.

Politically motivated? I'm sure the Democratic allegation has no political motivation behind it either. Nope. They're completely altruistic and just thinking of the best thing for the country. Of course.

If I start collecting information on something and periodically update it for three years, that makes it old information?

Listen, you... We know how this stuff works, but it's entertaining to pretend I don't. :-)

Seriously, the news has made it sound like some nefarious plan to draw attention away from the Dems, but the question arises: why didn't they make this terror alert happen during the DNC, if that was in their power all along?

We were discussing this at work, and decided that Bush probably reacted with more publicity than necessary, but probably the amount of force necessary. That's without, of course, working in DHS, but having access to JWICS and functioning analytical minds.
