The so-called Marriage Protection Amendment comes before the House on Wednesday. Please let your congresscritter know that it's a stupid thing to enshrine discrimination in the Constitution.
I wrote my congresscritter, telling him that enshrining discrimination into the Constitution is antithetical to the very concepts of freedom we hold dear in this country. The Constitution is not meant to be a detailed legal system, but a broad overview. Marriage is a pretty small piece of the pie to be added to the Constitution. Surely there is some more important work our elected idiots could be doing besides harassing a tiny minority of our population in order to appease a tiny more-vocal minority.
Don't you feel that as a society we have progressed enough that the common man should be able to have his vote count as it stands? Granted, less than 60% of the people in the country vote, but those who are voting obviously care enough to make a conscious decision about who they want to lead the country.
