Seriously, what IS wrong with Kansas?
Evolution on trial in Kansas
bq. The Kansas Board of Education has scheduled six days of courtroom-style hearings to begin Thursday in Topeka. More than two dozen witnesses will give testimony and be subject to cross-examination, with the majority expected to argue against teaching evolution.
C'mon! Are you guys serious up there? Nikki - tell me your neighbors aren't all insane.
Anyone read the Crucible? I'm so embarassed to be in this country some days.

WTF, seriously. I believe I read about this somewhere a few weeks back. Sickens me.
Evilution
There was a great cover for Scientific American (I believe) last year, which read, "Was Darwin Wrong?" and told the reader to turn to a specific page to find the answer. That page had the letters N and O in about 800 point type. There is no credible scientist who disbelieves evolution, just as there is no credible scientist who disbelieves global warming. That's because, in scientifical circles, things aren't beliefs - things are either true or not true. Things that are probably true are treated as true unless disproven.
Contrast this with relgion-land, where things which are not provable are taken as truth, and any evidence and proof which goes against the unprovable things are dismissed. Let's pretend that we can't tell the earth is round, why don't we? Amazing.
