Pretty much everyone knows that cats enjoy giving presents to their owners. Holly was just mewling at the front door, and when I looked out she had some rather large lizard in her mouth. I got her to drop it so it could scurry away, but it did seem to be missing its tail.

This creature keeps giving me dead birds and live lizards. No matter how many times I discourage her, she just won’t stop. Has she ever seen me eating a sparrow or gecko? Why would she think I’d appreciate these things? I don’t assume she’d like Screaming Yellow Zonkers.

Zonking Yellow Screamers...

In my opinion as a cat owner, it's a learned behavior on their part. See, we feed them and provide for their every need. They, in the background, see us entertaining our friends. We also feed our friends. *shrug* Natural assumption on my part, but I guess the cat mind makes the bridge and just adopts you into their 'pack' (for lack of a better word) as a provider or 'Alpha'. So, from learning behaviors from us, they decide to also provide for the pack and are bringing their kill to their 'Alpha' for approval of the hunt. Kind of like lions.

Which makes me think even more. Gizmo does the same thing to me. She's primarily an inside cat.. absolutely hates the outdoors. She brings me bugs she finds. It's precious, but disgusting. She is probably never going to get validation for her hunt from me. I refuse to eat bugs.

*ponders* I wonder if this is damaging her in some way...
