They needed a study to find that texting while driving is ridiculously dangerous? http://bit.ly/ZyR4z

Until three years ago, I worked for a company that took electronic payments, over the phone or online, for utility companies. Fully half of the calls in our customer service department were from losers who couldn't enter their utility account or credit card information because they were trying to pay their bills while driving. We weren't allowed to take the customer's information, to forestall legal threats of "That bozo put in the wrong information" when the customer used cards from closed accounts and the like, so the only option we'd have in these situations was to ask the customer to pull over and try it again. The nearly universal response? "I don't have time to do that. I have to get to work." (For the last year I was there, I personally handled so many calls where the moron in question was trying to punch in information, or was even running another conversation with another cell phone while talking to me and driving, that I was waiting for the call ending in "AIEEEEE! *crash*"
