Warning, here be spoilers...

Um, did they decide to just rehash every possible stereotype from the previous four iterations of Star Trek for this show?

And, must we introduce the "prototype" of every individual piece of technology seen in the other shows all during the pilot episode? Look, a "phase pistol" that has two modes: stun and kill. Oooh. Or, that newfangled transporter thingie that nobody trusts.

Hey, look, a cold emotionless Vulcan that turns out to have a heart of gold after all! Oh, my, whoda thunk it?!?

I particularly liked the strip-tease with the sexy Vulcan and the cretinous human in the shower/decon room. Yeah, baby, shake that pointy-eared thang!

Seriously, the show wasn't bad, but they really need to let go of the baggage. Look at Andromeda or Earth: Final Conflict for examples of Roddenberry-inspired shows that aren't exactly like the earlier Star Treks.

Well, what do you expect? It's not the original. I think that all the new shows are entertaining and I'll watch them. But to me, nothing quite matches the thrill of yet another red-shirt getting his ass handed to him. Or Kirk scoring with yet another hot babe. That's true visionary entertainment!

I thought the show was alright. Nothing great, unfortunatly. But I try to wait a bit before giving up on anything Star Trek. I did think the Vulcan was a bit much- could she look any more like Seven? I know after seeing that chest though that she will be in the series as long as they can get her to stay. If they're going to continue to have stacked women then I wish they'd get a few men who were better built. How about a nice set of shoulders or form fitting pants for the men?
But I do hope that some of that prototye extravaganza was just because it was the first show. Now they can just build on it- I hope!
