We Have a Constitution?

Some Democrats complained about the rampant anti-Constitutionality of warrantless wiretaps and indefinite detention during the Bush administration, and the Republicans called them anti-American. Some Republicans are complaining about the anti-Constitutionality of bombing a foreign country with no Congressional authorization (while ignoring the anti-Constitutionality of continued indefinite detention etc.), but nobody is calling them anti-American. Amazing that both parties only recognize we have a Constitution when it says stuff they agree with.

To be fair, although nobody seems to be calling Republicans anti-American (I’m pretty sure only the GOP can use that term, something about trademark infringement), there are plenty of other insults being lobbed about. Obviously, anyone who refers to the Constitution is a fringe nutjob in today’s political climate.

Republicans can't be anti-American. If they were anti-American, they'd be Democrats (and if they were Democrats, they'd be anti-American) because Democrats hate America. All Republicans love America, and everyone who loves America is a Republican.

Also, the Constitution is perfect, eternal, and was personally given to George Washington on Mount Sinai. All people who love America (a.k.a. Republicans) should read the Constitution daily. Democrats never read the Constitution, because, as you know, Democrats hate America. Now, if you're one of those potentially wavering souls who reads the Constitution and thinks he sees something in it that might possibly be construed as contradicting the America-loving policies of the Republican party ... well, you're wrong, is all.

Of course the Democrats don't follow (or even read) the Constitution. What did you expect? They hate America!

Just to make this clear: even Democrats who act like Republicans hate America. Double bonus hatey points if the Democrat in question is black, because in that case he's clearly only pretending to act like a Republican to lull those who haven't yet realized the awful truth into a false sense of security while he works on his America-hating Democrat agenda behind the scenes.
