Hey, Kindle users, I have a question for you. The Kindle has this cool feature where you can email things to it (either paid over 3G or free over WiFi). Do you use that feature much, if at all?

This is part of my continuing curiosity about all things ebook, and it seems that Amazon is the only one with an email address the user can shoot things to. With all the reviews for the new touch Nook this week, it just made me wonder if this is a feature that few people would even miss, or if it’s something really important.

I've used it twice. Maybe three times.

That's not too odd, in my understanding. It's not common, but it's not unheard of.

We email various formats to Matt's kindle with instructions to "convert". Even formats that the kindle can technically handle are easier to manipulate (change text size, etc) if they're converted to .mobi or .azw (I don't remember which one they convert to).

That's really the only use we have for it. We don't use it for random document storage.

Yes, Matt uses the USB. We've also played with the emailing feature.

Are you connecting your Kindle to your computer directly via wireless?

...Or by "wireless," do you mean routing everything through Amazon? That is, buying Amazon stuff and having it sent from Amazon's servers to your Kindle or buying non-Amazon stuff and emailing through Amazon to your Kindle?

We've done the second; I don't know if you CAN do the first.
