The foreshadowing at the beginning was a little too obvious, but the cold open had some great explodey bits and fabulous lines for Rory. But, once again, damn you, Steve Moffat! We’ve got to wait until September to get the second half of this two-parter? Holy frackin’ Sontarans!

as it should be. seriously, that is the point of cliffhangers. if the BBC wants to do them on this show, they have to be midseason. Last season, I thought Big Bang II should have been the opener to Season 6 and make everyone wait all winter on the end of the previous episode with the Doctor trapped in the Pandorica, etc. but then there would have been no xmas special. Your reaction is precisely what will bring fans back in the fall. As a writer, Steve Moffat knows this. The more agony you are in, the better he has done his job! :)

Moffat has said he plans a cliffhanger for the end of the season, as well as this midseason one. It does complicate things for the Christmas Specials, as you said. Do they pretend the previous season ender didn't happen, or didn't matter, or is the special set at a completely different time? Ah, the joys of geekery.

We've GOT the BBC America channel now, but still ended up watching this one on the computer. At the end, Matt said his brain was cramping, and demanded an episode of Red Dwarf :-D
